Free Credit Score Question:?

Where's the best site on free credit score? I've looked everywhere. Sometime searching is just a pain. Anyone with some ideas or links to share? Thanks.

  1. You can get a free credit report from Experian once a year. http://www.experian.com/
  2. I haven't found a site yet that gives you a truly free credit 'Score'. However, there IS a site that provides free credit reports from all three of the big reporting companies. This is NOT the well advertised site, this address is a little different: www.annualcreditreport.com
  3. Those aren't free. Only your credit report is. Those scores are figured differently by each credit reporting company, so they are "copyrighted". Therefore, you get to pay. Nice. I'll buy one of the scores before a major purchase to see how it falls. They'll run about $10.
  4. Sorry. No such animal. If you want your credit score you have to pay for it. The only way around it would be if you were applying for a loan and they happen to pull your reports and scores with them. But that's also a rarity these days, as companies tend to use their own scoring method to determine credit-worthiness. If you look on the three major credit bureau's websites, they may advertise for a "free score" but you have to sign up for some program that you probably don't need and it's not really free in the end. Good luck!
  5. You can get free credit reports from each of the three credit bureaus at AnnualCreditReport.com. There's a fee for your score. If you are only interested in your score, go to MyFico.com. There's a fee but you get the real score that banks and other lenders use not the Fako scores some of the credit bureaus sell you.
