Halifax Bank Having a Laugh?
I spotted 3 direct debits which were taken in error on my account totalling £70 and was told by customer service to go to my branch and fill in an indemnity claim form. When i went at 9.45am this morning, the lady told me i didnt need to fill in a firm, if i was disputing the DD's i was entitled to an immediate refund, so she took all my details, transactions etc, and told me it would be done and on my account within 10 minutes or so. By 4pm it wasnt there so i went back, the lady was busy so i spoke to someone else, i told her what had happened and she went and spoke to the original woman who said she would do it. She came back and told me she will DEFINATELY been crediting them by 5pm, before she leaves work. I accepted it and waited at the bank in the car so i could withdraw the funds. 5pm came and went, and no credit, i went in just before closing to ask what was happening, they told me the woman had left already. 20 minutes after saying she wud do it. What shud i do

- See the manager tomorrow.
- RING HEAD OFFICE!!! MAKE A FORMAL COMPLAINT!!
- go to the manager of the bank and tell them what happened, and tell them they better fix it now
- Think about changing banks.
- It can be done over the telephone, call their telephone banking line, ask them to submit a claim and file a complaint for you. I'd also ask for a reasonable amount of compensation for petrol, parking, inconvenience etc.
- Make a complaint to the manager and tell him/her that you will close your account. You probably won't have to (it can be a bit of a hassle) but it should mean you get your money back promptly. After having been asked more than once to correct their mistake they should be grovelling!!!!!
- Make a formal complaint and put it writing also keep a copy of it, as it could take some time before you get it put right, I would put my money under the bed before I would put it in the Halifax
- Halifax are the worst bank in the whole entire world. The ONLY way to get through to them is to threaten them with the Financial Ombudsman Service.
- Complain about your appalling treatment. Don't just let it go see the manger tomorrow morning .
