I have a credit repair guy that says he can remove slow pays etc etc from my credit. for a fee.?
Personally I don't care about the ethics behind it I just don't want to get ripped off. He says he can do it for about $300. Anyone out there have any luck with credit repair??

- Ask to see if he is bonded. If he is not then is is not legitimate Also, it is illegal to charge up front. I work for a Credit Attorney. If you need help email me.
- ain't gonna happen.
- That is certainly doable but you can do it yourself. He'd just be doing the same things you can learn to do on the Internet if you do some research.
- You can dispute everything yourself and if they do not reply in 30 days, it comes off.
- You need to check his references, license, and etc. This is possible however, when credit repair companies request and send information they don't sign their name and company info they sign your name. That makes you liable for what ever he send them. and his ethics. I suggest you look on line there is a lot of free information about credit repair. If it's over your head or if you like this guy there is nothing wrong with getting a little help.
- They can take money up front and will not do the work other wise. there not allowed to take money up front for removing item that are legally yours. If they offer other services than credit repair they can take money up front. And $300.00 is to cheap, you get what you pay for. The average credit repair is $1,000.00
- The only person who can repair your credit is you. Instead of paying the guy $300, pay off some of your bills. These guys are all scam artists, charging you for something you can/should do yourself. BTW, you can't remove slow pays. If you paid late, you paid late. The only thing you can do is pay on time and continue paying on time. You can send a letter to the credit agency (ie: Equifax, etc) explaining why you were late which they will then include on your credit report, but if you have alot of late payments, the explanation for one or 2 late payments won't matter. Good luck.
- I quote from the 2007 edition of the Consumer Action Handbook "There are credit repair companies out there that advertise that they can erase bad credit for a hefty fee. Don't Believe them". You can find more info here: http://debt.123thebest.info/credit_card.html All the best to you.
