My father in law says his credit score is 900, is that possible?
I think the banker is mislead but I thought 850 was highest possible.

- It is with Vantage but not with FICO. FICO reports from 300 to 850, Vantage reports from 501 to 990.
- Maybe he was talking about his VantageScore. Their range is 501-990. Fico Scores range from 300-850
- It is possible, but very rare. Even people with minimal debt and no lates are under 900. To give you an example, 750 is a very good credit rating.
- It's rare, but possible. Although the credit bureaus will tell you that 850 is the highest, it's not. I've seen 858 and higher. It's just that 850 is sort of an "average high" amount.
- The only way to get a really high score is to be in a LOT of debt and be current on it. If you have no debt, your score rapidly dwindles away to nothing. So it just means he has a heck of a lot of debt!
- 850 is the highest score from FICO. There are other companies that created their own score.
