Anyone ever use a credit repair company?

Did you use creditrepairtoday.com or any other credit repair company? What was your experience? Was it worth it?

1. Try to repair your credit yourself. Call the cc company and ask them to accept a smaller lump sum payment. They'll says no, but ask to speak to a manager. If you use a repair company, they may just add to your fees because they need to get paid and sometimes the settlement or payment schedule puts u in a worse position. Just my opinion.
2. I used Lexington Law Firm and I thought it was worth it. I don't have a lot of time and they helped me get through this, but you can do credit repair yourself if your really motivated enough to be dedicated to it. Also note Lexington Law firm does credit report repair! They can help you dispute negatives in your reports pretty well. Like I said, I have two jobs and my own business, so it was worth having them in my corner to do the grunt work! You should also read this article from ezine.
3. My mother used credit repair companies in the past. They charged her $500 for their services, and all they did was get her a copy of her credit report. Something she could have done herself for free. They didn't help her contest anything on it, as there was nothing to contest (all the debts were hers). Total waste of money. Even if she did have things that she would have been able to contest, she would have been able to do THAT on her own too, for free. I cleared my husbands credit report, that had old debts still listed. All I had to do was prove they were paid off (copies of the bills), and the report was clean within a week. Do it yourself. Credit repair companies are only out to get your money (that I'm sure you can use elsewhere). They prey on desperate people with bad credit, promise to make their troubles disappear and it's all a SCAM.
4. Learn the rules of disputing something in your credit files, and the FCRA laws, and do it yourself. All it takes is persistance and patience. If you insist on paying someone to do it for you, contact me and I will help you. lol
