do those credit repair services work. i have spoken to a few of them and they told me that they are able to get late satisfied payments off my credit report and the also told me that they are able to remove a bankruptcy off my report that is 8 years old. how do they work and what is desputing and item mean.

- They don't do anything you couldn't do yourself ... and they will charge you for it. Make repairing your credit a hobby for the next month or two and you'll get the same things done, without paying.

National Foundation for Credit Counseling. Find out exactly what the fees are upfront. They can negotiate with creditors on your behalf, sometimes lowering your interest rate and eliminating late fees and over-the-limit fees. But you can also negotiate yourself with your creditors. And depending on whether you filed chapter 7 or 13 bankruptcy, you may be able to get that removed yourself. - Well, to be honest most are scams. I used a company for 4 months thinking that my credit would be great, but when you look at their busines model, it's not to help you it's to just take your money. Most offer a monthly payment. Well, in business would you want them your customers to pay you for one month or for 12 months? 12 months... You can do it on your own.
