My credit score is between 550-600 can I rent an apartment with a low credit score?
Most of my debt is from 2003. The landlord says they only check back 2 years. I haven't been late on anything since 2003. Will an apartment that requires good credit accept me? I have a great job over 2 years and good renters history.

- Each landlord has a set of different requirements. I would rent to you. You don't know until you try. Just because 1 turns you down, doesn't mean the next one will.
- It depends on how competitive your rental market is; however, credit is usually less important than income & rental references. If you have three-times the income and 1-2 years of good rental history, I wouldn't worry about your credit report.
- Unless it's a really snooty place, a less-than-golden credit score shouldn't disqualify you. If you have a solid rental history, with zero late rent and no evictions, in addition to a good, steady income, you should have no problems. I just qualified for a new place and my credit score is abysmal. I DO have nearly 15 years worth of impeccable renting history and an excellent income.
