How do I raise my credit score?

I'm so dumb in this area. Me and my husband both have around a 530 score. We need to buy a home and settle down ( we have 3 little girls). I have a truck loan and student loan on my credit. We have no credit cards. I just feel really lost and hopeless about the whole homebuying situation. Any one that has been in the situation please help. We want to do improvements as soon as possible, I dont want to have to wait over a year or two. Help if you can!

  1. First get a copy of at least one of the three reporting agencies and make sure all is accurate and accountable to you and not somebody with a name like yours Then make comments where you feel that the report of bad credit incidents are innacurate. Third get local merchants to give you credit as you develop relationships. I used my auto mechanic and dentist. Fourth get a secure Visa card where you pay in advance. It won't be long after you take these steps that your credit score will improve . . . assuming that you don't get into more debt.
  2. pay your bills on time
  3. hi, my best guess would be if trying to purchase a home, keeping up with current financial affairs would really help keep ur score up.now on the other hand if ur struggling to make ends meet it may take a bit longer to make the home purchase happen.applying jointly i assume would make for a higher score on ur credit.im sure by getting out there and taking a chance & speaking to a morgage lender/personal bank.that would accually help the two of you to see where u stand : ) goodluck
  4. Get in touch with an Attorney in your area that deals strictly with "credit". They will be able to help you figure out what is the best route for the two of you to take. It is definitely worth the try
  5. You need to do two things: Dispute the derogatory trade lines on your credit report and - Build credit. Dispute the negative stuff by writing dispute letters to the Credit Reporting Agency listed for each negative trade line. Build credit by first getting a secured credit card. This will add 30 points to your score right away. Then use it each month for something small. Always pay it on time and keep the balance below 30% of credit limit. This is what I do when I repair people's credit - and it works! Take heart! You are on the right track by at least trying to find some answers - now just take action. Good luck!

  7. Repairing the credit score is not that difficult provided you take these 5 simple steps into consideration. 1. Check your credit report regularly This is a must to ensure that you know your current credit score, and what is ailing it. If there are any inconsistencies in your credit report get them corrected. Keeping bills of all the transactions you make can be very handy and helpful in correcting any errors in your credit report. 2. Get rid of those extra credit cards The temptations to own a new credit card are so numerous in modern times that many of us end up with a purse-full of them without any real need. They stay there and cause a lot of problems in repayment. The confusion that comes with too many credit cards can easy lead to a missed payment and resulting penalties. Frequent defaults will reflect poorly on your credit score. So, keep only the necessary and discard the rest. 3. Repay on time Every credit card transaction is a loan that has to be repaid on time with interest. Don't ever miss out on any repayment. If you are not able to make full payments, make half, or even the monthly minimum, but don't default. This will keep you in the good books of credit card company and help your credit score. If you are not able to pay anything to the credit card company, don't shy away from them, call them, explain your problem and work out things so that a negative report doesn't land up with the credit reporting agencies.
