  1. You would be better off requesting a "free credit report" directly from the credit agencies such as Experian. Go to www.experian.com.
  2. The free credit reports don't tell you your score unfortunately but they do give you your entire credit report so that you can review and correct any errors. The government site here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/freereports.shtm links to https://www.annualcreditreport.com. This site lets you get your credit report from all three bureaus for free, once per year. You can purchase your credit score for extra $$$. Frankly, I think we should be legally entitled to get our score once per year too! I am about to try out Credit Karma because I want my free score and I feel like risking my SS# today ;) For an extensive discussion of credit and Credit Karma, check this out http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=745830
  3. I'm not sure about this, but check out this site for your best credit info. It's really helpful and truthful. http://www.credit-card-loans-debt.com
  4. Do you ever listen to or read any information by financial guru Suze Orman? Her advice is to use http://www.myfico.com You can get 3 separate credit reports free (once a year) from each of the 3 main credit bureaus.
  5. Definitely true. I've been pulling my score for a couple weeks now with no problems. MyMoneyBlog.com had a really great writeup about them a few weeks back. http://www.mymoneyblog.com/archives/2008/01/free-credit-score-monitoring-with-creditkarma.html Unlike freecreditreport.com, they don't ask you for a Credit Card and then sign you up for a product. I think it's a neat way to get a score with no hassle.
