2. Not at all. There are "hard" pulls and "soft" pulls. A credit check with a utility/phone/cellular company is considered a soft pull and will not affect your credit score.
3. This whole obesssion with credit scores being lowered by credit checks is so overstated.... Typically when a creditor pulls your credit it will lower your score by a max of 3 pts. However, normally that only applies to credit cards, bank loans, car loans, ect ect. Also these pts can be earned back very quickly. From what I have been told, utilitity type checks along with personal credit checks, do not lower your score at all. Normally the only types of people who will notice their score dropping based soley on credit checks are people who apply for like 20 credit cards a year.
