  1. You can't "repair" credit if it is true. Get your credit report and see if there is anything that is wrong with it. If something is wrong then you can dispute the error. Otherwise, here are some things that will start to improve your score. Pay all of your bills on time. If there is a card that you are not using then still use it once a month on something that you would buy anyway so that the creditors are seeing that you are paying your card monthly. Make sure that you only charge up to 30% of your available credit. Even if you pay it off monthly you still can only charge up to 30%. If you have to little credit try getting some more. Anything bad will not be "as bad" the farther back it is.
  2. Credit repair is really not a quick fix, most so-called credit repair companies are scams. When I graduated from college I was in a similar circumstance. I subscribed to www.myfico.com, this allowed me to see my credit report, and my credit score, and track progress. Figure out what outstanding debt you have and pay it off. Get into the habit of paying all your bills on time, and start to build positive payment history. In my case I opened a secure credit card with Capital One, this allowed me to establish a steady payment history, and capital one rewarded me a year later by increasing my credit limit. After 2 years of clean payment history, they offered me an unsecured visa. Just maintain that and you'll see some impact within 6 months. Credit history does stay on your credit report for 7 years but what a lot of people don't realize is that its the past 2 years that have the greatest impact on your credit score.
  3. know what you owe and who you owe. work to pay it off. look 4 consolidation if possible. talk to creditors. i took my credit from 500ish to >700 now in little than 1.5 years. off course money helps
  4. Takes years. I wasn't horrible. But I had a total of about $8000 in debt when i screwed mine up at 18-21. I'm not 24 and have been working HARD for the past 2 years and i'm still only up to a 648 score. I started repairing it when I got my good job and got a big bonus.. Used the bonus and taxes to pay of ALL of my stuff that had went to collections..So I had things paid off.. but it still stays on your credit for 7 years.. and you have to keep it good for those 7 years in order to get your credit repaired. I found out it takes a lot of work a research to learn the ins and outs of credit reporting. There are a lot of things to look at. Wish I wouldn't have screwed mine up.. but you live and you learn!
