Does your credit rating affect your ability to rent a U-Haul truck?
We had a family member call us from another state. They wanted to use our address to rent a U-Haul truck. They said they couldn't use their address because their credit rating was not good. (A step-child ruined their credit , according to them.) We told them we didn't want them to use our address in case something happened to the truck, then it might affect our ability to rent a truck from U-Haul in the future. We called our local U-Haul office. They told us that credit rating couldn't be determined using an address alone. Something fishy seems to being going on here. What do you guys think?

- Renting a truck has nothing to do with your credit rating. Many times, places like UHaul require a valid credit card, maybe they have a problem with that? Sounds pretty bizarre to me.
- I have rented a U-haul and other vehicles .The address I used had to match the drivers license I used- the main thing you need is a credit card.
- the numerous times we have rented a U-Haul the only thing they wanted was a credit card, and drivers license. No credit check
- Last time I rented a U-Haul truck, it was a cash deal, the subject of credit card, or credit was never brought up by the rental agent. http://www.uhaul.com/ Customer action form If you would like a response to your concerns, a U-Haul representative will review your information and respond within 24 hours.
- Vehicule rentals such as U-Haul do not require any creditworthiness. Only a valid driver's license and a credit card. Be extremely careful. This doesn't sound right, I smell a rat.
