3. Go to www.annualcreditreport.com. Federal law now requires the three credit buraeus to give you a free report once per year upon your request. This website has been set up by those three to facilitate the process. If you want your report to include your credit score, however, you will have to pay a small fee. A good strategy to combat mistakes and identity theft is to request one credit report from each of the three bureaus at 4 month intervals. (Trans Union today, Experion in May, etc.) This way you are monitoring your credit throughout the year. And next year you can do the same, all for free.
