If I filed bankruptcy 7 years ago and have had good credit since when should my credit score jump back up? Thank You

  1. as long as you pay your bills on time, and have not made too many inquiries into your credit for other cards, etc., yur credit should be getting higher as the monthes pass by. Credit will not "jump" back up and it takes a LONG time to recover from filing chap 7
  2. Your credit score should be fine. Usually banks will ask if you have declared bankruptcy within the past 5 years. Other than that if you have good credit since, your score should reflect that as long as everything is settled
  3. You should have a superior credit score if you have done nothing foolish since then and the BK has been correctly recorded with each of the 3 major agencies. Check your credit reports and make sure they are all current and correct.
  4. As long a you hvae not had any derogatory items since your BK, your score should be fine. I filed 6-years ago and mine is over 750.
  5. it will go up, but its hard to say when and from now on keep payments on time..
  6. Your bankruptcy should drop off of your credit report altogether after 7.5 years. If it doesn't, you can request to have it removed from the 3 credit reporting companies (Equifax (EQ), Experian (EX), and TransUnion (TU).) As far as your credit score, the bankruptcy will have less and less impact on your score over time, until it is finally removed. It shouldn't be affecting your score much at all after 7 years.
