  1. Because there is no law compelling the credit bureaus to give you your credit score there unfortunately is no place that is truly "free" where you can get your credit score. You can get free copies of your credit report from each of the three credit bureaus once per year at http://www.annualcreditreport.com, but all three require that you pay a fee of 7 - 15 dollars to get your actual number. What I do is once a year I get my free credit reports and I buy the score from one of the three each year as well (no sense in buying it from all three ... same yourself $30 and just buy it from one ... it'll be close with all three). You can buy it when you're on-line getting your free reports. By careful with any site that claims to give you free credit reports or free credit scores. The ONLY site that is totally free (credit report only) is www.annualcreditreport.com which is the site created under the government's "factact". Note: Please pressure your congress members to write a law requiring the bureau's to also offer the credit score for free AND require them to reveal how the score is calculated (right now a well guarded secret). After all ... if you don't know what's broke ... how can you fix it?! Good Luck.
  2. Check with your credit card companies. I have a Washington Mutual card. After finishing my business with them, I asked if they could give me my credit score. They told me how to get it online via their website. It's completely free...point and click. If they do it, I'm sure other credit card companies do it as well.
