help with credit score

free credit scores

Is there anywhere to get your credit score without paying or leaving a credit card number. I mean no strings?

I see free credit reports all the time but it's just a scam to get your credit card info to charge you for something later. Is there a free site for obtaining your credit report

  1. Actually, freecreditreport.com is free. Everyone can get one free report annually -- it is the law. You only pay if you want the "credit score" which is a new thing they came up with to try to get people to pay them. Any good bank or mortgage company uses the report - not the score.
  2. According to federal law, all three credit reporting companies must provide you with an annual credit report for free. Additionally, you may obtain a free report if you have experienced any negative reporting or have been declined for a job or credit due to the report. Transunion.com Equifax.com Experian.com
  3. Go to Prosper http://www.prosper.com/account/common/friend_invitation_respond.aspx?rsvpKey=55d6ae49e57c4233953c94bf8d090050&referrer=olwagner&utm_source=friend_invitation_connect&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=system_event&utm_content=connect_with_friend , start the borrowing process and you'll see your score for free, no string attached
  4. Under the FACT Act, you're allowed one free report per bureau, once every 12 months. AnnualCreditReport.com is the only government approved site to receive those reports; no sign up or credit card required. However, your credit score is extra but can be purchased at the time you receive your free report. Credit scores are the only things you don't get for free. You can get all your reports at once or you can spread out each report over several months. FreeCreditReport.com is not the federal mandated site and they require you to sign up for monitoring services before you can get your 'free' report. You get a 30-day free trial and then you'll pay a monthly fee if you don't cancel.
  5. Yes, to answer your question. Everyone is entitled to get "one" free credit report a year. If you don't want to pay with a credit card you can write the 3 credit agencies and they will send you your report for free. Remember though you only get 1 report per year. Another way is if you applied for something and were denied you have the right to see a report for free to find out what it says in your file, again if you dont like to use your cc you can write or of course call the agencies. www.experian.com www.transunion.com www.equifax.com By the way I have signed up for the experian monthly subscription. I love it I get alerts if anything changes on my report. And I can check my report and scores any time. I think it is around $12.00 a month. well good luck friend !!!
  6. The free credit report once a year through Experian is the only one I know about. They do ask for your credit card number. However once you receive the free report you have to cancel so that you will not be charged monthly for your credit report.
  7. The US Government has mandated that the three major credit bureaus offer the service to everyone in the United States once each year. The name of this site is www.annualcreditreport.com. Since it is government mandated it requires a whole host of hoops to jump through. You do not actually get your credit scores, and it can take 7-10 days to receive the information. All in all not very consumer friendly. Guess that is what happens when a big company is required to do something they do not want to do. Here is how I got my Credit Report and Score from all 3 bureaus for free. I went to http://faqfaq.net/FreeCreditReport.html and signed up for their service. It took like 3 minutes! They give you 7 Days for Free to try the service. So I just canceled the next day after printing out everything I needed. Easy and Free.
