1. Threre are 3 main credit beauros. each will allow you to register and view (once per year) your credit report. Transunion - equifax - I forget the 3rd.
2. Transperian is the third. Just pick one and follow the steps on their website. It takes about 20 minutes to fill out the request and 4 weeks to get it in back to you (they send emails that you can click back and logon to their sites to get the info.)
3. www.freecreditreport.com You will have to use your credit card, BUT you normally get a '30 day trial' and if you cancel with in that time period, you won't be charged anything. Or you can contact your bank, or any credit service, if you've been turned down for a loan and you will receive a paper stating you are 'entitled for a free copy of your credit report' by calling or writing to.. and there should be phone numbers and / address.
4. To officially get your credit reports from the three major credit reporting companies use the official website below. By law, they have to provide you with one free credit report per year. You do not have to enroll in anything, you do not have to cancel anything. It is free. It is the official way to do it, not a website that is looking for business or that will misuse your personal information. Check it out, then select me as the best answer when you see I am right.
5. You can't get your score for free, you have to pay for it. But you can get your credit report for free by going to annualcreditreport.com. Not freecreditreport.com, they will sign you up for some scam service.
